I am a 45-year-old mother of two very bright confident girls ages 8 and 5 who go to our under-enrolled local home public school in Los Angeles.   Although the school is housed in a classically beautiful 1930’s building in an upper middle class historic neighborhood, most of the neighborhood children do not go to the school.

I am starting this blog to write about my hopes and frustrations that come with holding on to my ideals of embracing this neighborhood school as our own while the rest of my peers have spent and continue to spend endless hours over the years obsessing over getting their child into the what they hope is the best available school for their child, even if they have to drive across town to do so.
